I believe this is the season for us to dig deep into our relationship with the Lord. He is calling us. He is saying, “Let’s talk friend.” He’s at the very door.
He totally empathizes with us feeling what we are feeling, thinking what we think and understanding why we say and think as we do about everything. It doesn’t mean He agrees with our perceptions. It just means He is with us, listening, hearing us, tasting us without judgments and condemnation like a good listening friend. In this safe environment He gently or imperceptibly offers His point of view for us to see as He sees. He offers solutions, words of encouragement, endearments. In an environment of safety and trust, it’s easier for us to hear and receive. This is called mutual understanding just as good friends do for one another. This is more than kindness. This is mutual, intimate love and devotion.
Psalm 42
As the deer pants for streams of water,
So my soul pants for you, My God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When can I go and meet with God?
Song of Solomon 2:8-13
Listen! My beloved!
Behold, he is coming,
Climbing on the mountains,
Leaping on the hills!
“My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag.
Behold, he is standing behind our wall,
He is looking through the windows,
He is peering through the lattice.
“My beloved responded and said to me,
‘Arise, my darling, my beautiful one,
And come along.
‘For behold, the winter is past,
The rain is over and gone.
‘The flowers have already appeared in the land;
The time has arrived for pruning the vines,
And the voice of the turtledove has been heard in our land.
‘The fig tree has ripened its figs,
And the vines in blossom have given forth their fragrance.
Arise, my darling, my beautiful one,
And come along!’”
