I had a repeating dream of having my car stolen and each time I woke up very distressed. At first I thought this dream had something to do with me until the Lord pointed out that this was a word for the body.

Cars in dreams generally represent, destiny, career or occupations. When they appear in a dream, it could be about one’s current state of affairs or something to come. The Lord showed me that the dreams of the stolen cars are about loss, change, transition and discomfort. There is mourning associated with it because of loss. Loss that things are not as they used to be with a sense of purpose, motivation and vision. Along with this is a certain amount of resistance, clinging to the past and afraid to change and move on.

Many of us are in a kind of limbo wondering what’s next and seeking guidance from the Lord. He reminded me of Isaiah 43:18-19 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” He has us on a path to put away the old way of thinking and doing. The discomfort is about encountering new circumstances that may not feel comfortable like a new bed or a new pair of shoes. It takes time to break into new wineskins.

The transitions we are in feels like it’s taking forever, but He says this isn’t permanent and has an expiration date. He’s asking us to hold. “Be still and know that I am God.” He’s says, “Stay on course. Change nothing. Let Me bring the changes.” He’s saying not to rush ahead of Him and to be still and rest in His arms.

Waiting is hard work and takes discipline. He’s saying to do what’s in front of you today. Focus on the now which takes faith, trust and courage to remain still.

Prov 3:4-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Psalm 46:10 – Cease striving and know that I am God…
